Biography
I was born in the last days 1966.
I got interested in "pirate" radio in 1978. In 1980, when I was 14 years old (minimum age for obtaining ham license in USSR), I obtained novice license for ham radio EZ3QCS. In 1984, at the age of 18 years, I became RA3QSY. I got a suffix very difficult for CW, but my call sign it is easy to remember. I love DXing and my love began in 1985 after first DX QSO (ZS5LB) on Top band with home made QRP transceiver and asymmetrical wave dipole antenna 30m up the ground.
Now I have:
1. DXCC - all 340 current:
a) 340 current in SSB,
b) 337 current in CW (except: 3Y Bouvet Is., KP1 Navassa Is., P5 North Korea).
2. 8 deleted DXCC entities:
- OK-OM Czechoslovakia;
- PJ2-PJ4 Netherlands Antilles;
- PJ5-PJ7 Sint Maarten, Saba, St. Eustatius;
- R1MV, 4J1 Malyj Vysotskij (MV) Island;
- ST0 Southern Sudan;
- Y2-Y9 German Democratic Republic;
- ZS1 Penguin Island;
- ZS9 Walvis Bay;
3. Challenge - more 2650;
4. IOTA - more 950 islands.
I upload all QSOs to LoTW, eQSL and Club log regularly upon termination of every month, but I like exchange paper QSL via bureau.
I like rest with transceiver in natural reserves and national parks of Russia. There I use my special WFF (World Flora Fauna) programm call signs: UE3QSY, UE3QDG, RF3QFF, UE3OFF, UE3OFF/1, UE3OFF/3.
Equipment
I use Icom IC-780 (aka IC-781) transceiver, 1 kW home made amplifier ( GU-43B Svetlana tube) and vertical antenna by GAP Titan DX8.
