| Biography My city, Novo Hamburgo, got its name because the first German immigrants settled in the area in 1824. The county of Novo Hamburgo was emancipated and founded in April 5,1927. The city is located about 45 kilometers from Porto Alegre, the capital city of the State of Rio Grande do Sul and has a population of about 250.000.
PY3ZVN is a call sign given under reciprocal agreement. I am from Uruguay, where my call sign is CX8BO. I have another Brasilian call sign, PY2ZBO, in the State of São Paulo.
I work the 10 m, 15 m, 17 m, 20 m, 40 m, and 80 m bands mostly in PHONE. My radio is a TS-430-S and I use it delivering about 85 watts.
My antenas and tower have been designed and constructed by me more than 30 years ago. The tower is 18 meters high.
For 10 & 15 m I use a 3 element beam antenna with traps.
For 20 m I use a 4 element wide spaced beam antenna, whose reflector length is 12 m and the smallest director 10,27 m.
Beeing a single bander, the 20 m antenna tunes up very nicely on 17 m band.
For 40 m & 80 m I use a Dipole antenna with traps.
Between the two antennas there is a 11 element , vertical polarization antenna, for 2 m. (VHF)
