| Biography Hi my name is Johnny Kárason Thomassen i live in Tórshavn/The Faroe Islands.
I was born June 14 1969 in Tórshavn (the capitol) had a CB radio when i was a kid witch I had a lot of fun with, but then life happened and there was no time for the radio.
This spring (2019) I decided to go and get my Ham Radio licence, and passed the exam August 5 2019 for the Category A / CEPT Category 1 Licence.
Borrowed an Icom 706 radio from OY4TN and used it just for listening tile I bought my own Yaesu 857D October 2019 and started on DIGI mode November 6 2019 (had my QSO no 1000) January 1 2020.
I am an educated shipyard mechanic, but have been a mobile crane operator for many years, witch I enjoy weary much.
I bought a mobile radio to start with to see if I would enjoy the Ham Radio as much as I did with the CB Radio as a kid, and cos I often work away from home for long periods of time. Am in the proses of building a case to have with me wile away working. Ofc the antenna is not a problem, the crane boom is 70 meters long :)
And last but not least TNX to OY4TN, OY1OF, OY1R and OY1DZ for their help and patience.
