Biography

Hi from Joe / N6MM,

Welcome to my QRZCQ.com web page. This web page is intended to tell you a little bit about me and my Amateur Radio activities here in Newark California.

I am a lifelong California resident, born and raised on the Central Coast and then moved to the San Francisco Bay area in the late 60’s. I am a member of SBARA, The South Bay Amateur Radio Association, The Northern California DX club, and I am also a member of the ARRL. I was first licensed in 2005, then in 2007 I upgraded to General class and obtained the vanity call WB6TFD. In December of 2009 I upgraded to Amateur Extra and also changed my Vanity call to the present 1 by 2, N6MM.

I work as a technical associate in the advanced manufacturing engineering of touch screens here in the Silicon Valley. And have worked for the same company for 44 years. I am very active on 2, 6, 10, 12, 15, 17, 20, 40 and 75 meters. I really enjoy chasing DX and have worked 220 countries and confirmed 216. I also like to just rag chew when time and the bands conditions permit it.

My station consists of 3 Icom's, a 756 Pro, Pro 2, and a IC-7700, all microphones are stock. My backup and QRP rig is a Yasue FT-897D and in my truck I run an Icom IC-706 MK2 G. My amp for home is a 1KW, HL-1.5 K fx from Tokyo Hy-Power and the main antenna is a Mosley Pro 67B, 7 element 6 band trap yagi on a free standing tower at 55 ft. I also have a Hy-Gain DX-77 10-40 meter vertical. For 75 meters I use an Alpha Delta Model DX-OCF-HP off-center-fed 7-band antenna that works vary well on 75 meters. I often can be found on 20 or 40 meters calling CQ/QRP and have worked and confirmed many countries on just 5 watts. All thanks to the Mosley.

I operate an Icom IC-910 on 2-meters and 440 MHz; I enjoy making contacts on 146.520 FM and on 144.230 USB. I use my Icom 756 PRO for DX-ing on 6-meters during the sporadic E season in May, June and July on 50.125 MHz USB. In my spare time I go to work and now look forward to retirement in 2015 or so.

I look forward to working you and exchanging QSL cards.

73 from Joe, N6MM

DX Code Of Conduct

dx code of conduct small logoI support the "DX Code Of Conduct" to help to work with each other and not each against the others on the bands.
