Biography
I am a US Air Force veteran (served during the Vietnam War era, but not in-country). I retired from Lutheran Senior Services of Dover, DE as an IT Manager and now live in Magnolia, DE USA. (Called back to work as a consultant in January). I am currently serve as a member of the KCARC (EOC) - KC3ARC in Kent County DE.
I first got introduced to ham radio by a neighbor in New Jersey in the 1950's when I asked him what he used the large tower in his back yard for. He said it was for his multi-band beam, showed me his shack, and I was hooked. I had a life-long interest in ham radio but never got licensed until April 1988 when my brother-in-law Steve, WA2ENT (SK) got his license and got me interested again. I was first licensed as a Novice (code required), upgraded to Technician in June 1988, made good use of the 10M band for many years while it was hot. Member of the 10-70 Repeater and the Fairlawn Amateur Radio Club for many years
Moved to Delaware in 2003 and had to give up my 3-band beam so I was off the air for a while (14 years). Upgraded to General in February, 2018, put up a 40M dipole in the attic, and a 73ft EFLW, got a new radio and got back on the air. Getting ready to apply for a VA badge next. Upgraded to Extra June,2021. Received my VE accreditation on August 6,2021
