Biography
Firstly
I live in Britain the UK not the EU anymore. We left.
politics does not feature in my hobby. We are all equal in radio.
I have been licensed since 2000. Recently came back on the air in 2020 after being away from the hobby for a wile. With a Kenwood TS-570D full circle as I started out on the same radio in 2000. Such a well made radio. I'm operational on all main bands using a Sirio GPS27 1/2 wave vertical for 10 and 12m whit the help of the ATU and use a homebuilt (see my picture below) EFHW with a 64:1 autotransformer in a sort of sloping inverted L configuration over my house roof (see picture). For UHF & VHF. I have a couple of UV5Rs I take whit me on my travels and a Icom IC-207 in the shack. I was born the son of a coal miner in Barnsley South Yorkshire England in1969 but grew up in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales and surrounding area on a farm. An interesting fact is that our farm vet was non other than Peter Wright from the now famous Yorkshire vet show ( if you haven't seen it please do). Peter Wright was the Apprentice of Alf White (AKA James Herriot) author of the books All Creatures Great And Small. That's my Childhood claim to fame HI. I now live in a Welsh Valley town called Ebbw Vale originally famous for its steel production. Now sadly all gone. I started on FM CB then progressed (illegally oh no) to 11mSSB in the 1980s using first a Maxcom 4E then a Hy-Gain V which I still have and an Avanti Sigma 4. I am a member of the RSGB. I use SSB on the hf bands. I also enjoy FT8 and FT4.
