Biography
First licensed in 1993 under the UK class B callsign G7PVM.
Spent the next few years at Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh and gained a degree in Physics.
Operated under the callsign GM7PVM whilst in Scotland.
Gained class A/B licence in 1999 and changed callsign to M5AHJ.
Became class A (Advanced) in 2001 and changed callsign to M0ONY.
My son Chris gained his foundation licence at the age of 15 in 2019 and now holds the callsign M7AEZ.
Equipment
Transceivers:
Currently using an Icom IC-7300 transceiver on HF, 6m and 4m.
plus a Yaesu FT847 used mostly on 2m and 70cm (occationally on HF & 6m).
Occationally active on DMR, using a Retevis RT84 handheld and a Raspberry Pi MMDVM hotspot.
Experimenting with a HackRF One & PortaPack RX/TX SDR.
Previously owned a Kenwood TM-241E followed by an Icom IC-706MKII then a Yaesu FT920.
Antennas:
Moonraker GP2500 80-6m HF vertical.
Watson WHF-160B 160m mobile antenna mounted on a metal shed.
Also experimenting with an end-fed antenna with an LDG 49:1 unun.
Wellbrook ALA1530LN HF active receive loop using a WiMo QRM Eliminator as the RX/TX switchover.
Moonraker 6m (50MHz) square halo (horizontal).
Homemade 4m (70MHz) dipole (horizontal).
Sandpiper X-30 dual band co-linear for 2m/70cm vertical.
Moonraker YG27-35 dual band yagi 2m/70cm horizontal.
