Biography

I have an extensive background in electronics and programming. I used to design automated test equipment for testing night vision goggles used by the military. With that I designed circuit boards to interface between pc and test equipment.

I've worked on PCs since the original IBM PCs and work on PCs for family, friends, and acquaintances.

I've programmed in a whole variety of languages as needed by the job. I started off in Basic, and went to Pascal, C, and some assembly. Over the years I've Borne and Korn shell scripting, and Perl.

I started out doing web pages when all you had was an ftp client and a simple notepad text editor. Every change you had to ftp up and that was over slow modems. So I've use HTML, CSS, Java, JavaScript, PHP.

I enjoy tinkering with microcontrollers. Lately I've worked with the Arduino family but switched to the smaller clones such as the Micro and Nano. But also too like the STM32 flavored micros. I have several ESP8266 devices as well.

Since I've received my Tech license in Oct. 2015 I'm looking to incorporate my electronics, programming, and design skills with my ham radio work.

Right now I've hooked up my TS940 to my pc and using FLDIGI to see what's on digital. Hoping to get that two-way here soon. Plus get a PIEXX adapter for the radio to do CAT control.

I created my own website for my callsign KM4OLT at http://www.km4olt.com
