Biography
My name is Tony. I am a member of, YLSSB #17043, OMISS #9575, the Ohana Net, and the ARRL. I am also a member of the East Bay Amatuer Radio Club EBARC. I was born and raised here in the San Francisco Bay Area.
I am married and have three adult children. My wife's name is Gina. I retired out of Pacific Bell formally AT&T prior to the divestiture in 1984. I have worked in, and around Telecommunications for most of my life. I ran, and managed data centers for the phone company. After I retired I moved to Maui, Hawaii, and became a merchant and opened, owned, and operated Pacific Connections an art gallery located on Front Street in Lahaina. I also owned and operated, The Queens Gift Shop also in Lahaina. Business was great until 911 happened. Shortly after 911 we moved back to the SF Bay area where I live today with my lovely wife. I have traveled all around the world and still love to travel and cruise with my wife.
My hobbies include but are not limited to; Art, Science, Music, Literature, Photography, and of course Ham radio. I also teach Music theory, and guitar. I occasionally play in Classical Guitar Quartet. I also enjoy and play Jazz guitar, Latin guitar, Folk, and Blues guitar. I have a wonderful collection of guitars hanging on my wall. I have had many students over the years and really enjoy teaching. It is so wonderful to see others learn, progress, and then to apply their new knowledge. I have been playing the guitar for over forty five years. Also while in Hawaii I would play cocktail jazz at the swanky upscale beach hotels. What fun that was. Loved entertaining the tourist.
For me Ham radio is very fascinating, exciting, and fulfilling, and there are so many nice people on the air. I especially enjoy just listening to other QSO's. I am in the process of Learning International Morse Code (CW). CW has always fascinated me, even as a child. I still have so much to learn regarding the science and art of radio, and will try to continually hone and improve my skills as an operator.
I wish you all the best, and will be looking forward to hearing, and talking with you on the air. All the best to you and your's and a great big 73 to you all.
Most Sincerely: Tony Means kj6yfy
