Biography
Net Control for the Colorado Astronomy Net. I love sharing my passion for Astronomy, especially combined with Amateur Radio. I've been net control for my net since February 1996.
The Colorado Astronomy Net is active on the Rocky Mountain Radio League repeaters and the SkyHubLink system. The net meets on Tuesday nights at 7 P.M. Mountain Time (US) (0100Z Wednesdays) and is now received globally through SkyHubLink - Analog & WIRES-X, Echolink Node 985839, AllStar Node 46079, DMR, P25, IRLP, DSTAR. Check the SkyHubLink website for more details and other nets of interest. Live audio feed on Broadcastify at rmrl.org.
Initially licensed in 1970 in VA. Got my license back in 1995 and quickly upgraded to Amateur Extra by 1996. I kept my Advanced call sign because of the phonetics of my call sign suffix K I 0 Amateur Radio. Can't beat that!
VE with the South Metro VE Team in Centennial Colorado since 2014.
Finally got FT8 working on my iMac & Icom IC-7700 as of 07/13/24. Lots of little gotchas to contend with, but finally making contacts as of 7/13/24. I'm now on FT8, 40m, 30m, 20m, 17m, 15m almost every day. Logging contacts in QRZ, LOTW, ClubLog and eQSL logs. Made contact #1000 as of 09/11/24. Already got WAS and WAC (including Antarctica) on FT8 in my first 2 months. Also hunting POTA stations too. Please don't hesitate to contact me a second or third or as many times as you like as I am always testing out new antennas and configurations and seeing how they work.
If you would like an actual card, please let me know via my email, I'll be happy to send my QSL card. I'll gladly accept your card and reciprocate too.
