Biography
Small town Nebraska native briefly residing in Bradenton FL, now operating in Falls Church, VA.
First licensed at Tech in 2010, I have had my shack boxed up for a few years while moving around the country etc, but getting set up here in VA for longer haul now! Upgraded to GENERAL class in June 2020 just in time for my first Field Day! HF Dx is a blast. I'm finding many many nice, like-minded operators out there.
Currently running my trusty Kenwood TS-2000 (100w) into a W8AMZ ocf windom dipole, a second-hand Solarcon 2000 for 10m and an Arrow 2m/440 j pole for local repeater coms.
Excited to get to work on QRP and digital skills with my IC-705 that has finally gained FCC approval August 2020. Interested in SOTA/POTA/IOTA associated with travel, as well as operating across Iowa on the RAGBRAI sometime.
I've found a GREAT club home here in Virginia with the Virginia Wireless Society (VWS), www.virginiawireless.net . A really fantastic crew, lots of elmer experience to draw upon, frequent educational and social opportunities to enjoy.
I also enjoy the national WAS nets, OMISS (12683) and NATA; really excited to make contacts on these nets, a great way to get experience on the air.
By profession, I am a Physician Assistant over 25 years with experience in Neurosurgery, Cancer Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Emergency Medicine and most recently, Urgent Care medicine.
Enlisted and Commissioned with NE ARNG 1984-1994, out as O-3 Captain (Infantry) with time in grade.
Married 20 years, 5 children, 4 grandchildren, 1 dog, 1 cat.
