Biography
My name is Richard Carlone and my QTH is Estero Florida, a small village just south of Ft. Myers FL.
Originally from Rhode Island, my wife and I moved here in 2003 and have been loving it ever since.
I have had a lifelong wish to become a licensed ham radio operator and after retiring I was determined to go for it.
I was granted my Tech license on April 26, 2013 and upgraded to General on December 18, 2013.
Since I live in a deed restricted community,I recently built a 20' flagpole antenna consisting of 43' of #12 solid wire wrapped around the outside of the pole. A 9:1 unun and 50' of coax keeps everything running smoothly on 40 thru 10 meters. I run no more than 100 watts on HF and minimum power on my 2 meter rig. I also have a discone sitting in the attic of my garage for 2 meter and 70 cm communication.
I am a member of the Ft. Myers Amateur Radio Club, and am also a member of the A.L.E.R.T./ARES group in Lee County Florida.
I have met so many fine people and am very grateful for the help and advice that I have received since joining the wonderful world of ham radio.

Equipment
My equipment consists of a Yaesu FT-450D, that I use for HF, an Icom IC-745 (an oldie but goodie) as a spare, and a Kenwood TM 281A for VHF.
