Biography

I grew up in Hampton Virginia, and moved to Gloucester Virginia in 1977. I graduated from Gloucester High School in 1980. I moved to Newport News Virginia in 2008.
I have always been fascinated with radio. When I was a kid I would listen to my great uncle (WA4VVY) and my dad (KC4FLB) talking to people all around the world. My uncle's gear was handed down to my dad and it was taken care of over the last 30 years. I have worked in electrical design at Newport News Shipyard for 33 years. 8 years of my career was spent in the radio section, 8 years of waveguide design, and 6 years locating antennas on aircraft carriers.
Sadly my dad pasted away in 2015. When I was helping my mom categorize and research the value of all my dad's radio gear, it struck me that I want to continue his tradition. I gathered all of my dad's gear and started reading all the radio manuals and antenna books.
In August 2017 I received my Technician Class license. I am excited to get to know all the local HAMS and continue building antennas. I got my General Class license in November 2017.
