Biography

Howdy, thanks for visiting my page! My father, W5LZP, has been a ham radio operator for over 10 years and taught me a lot about the hobby. In 2020, I decided to try it out and got my Technician ticket in August 2020. In June 2021, I started studying for the General and Amatuer Extra exams and passed them both. I obtained the KCØMB callsign in July 2021 and my previous callsign was KI5KFZ. I'm currently working on setting up my home station for making local and DX contacts.

For 2m operation, I am using a Yaesu FT-2980R. It is a rugged 80W mobile transceiver that also works well in a base station. Recently, I got a FT-450D for HF/6m operation, and I've been steadily making SSB and FT8 contacts. Lastly, I have the Yaesu VX-170 and BTECH UV-5X3 on standby for 2m/1.25m/70cm operation.
