Biography

I became fascinated with ham radio when I was about 12 years old. A neighbor showed me his shack and I was hooked. It took a lot of years but finally in January of 2007 I obtained my Technician license. In April of 2007 I passed my General exam and received a CSCE for CW - something I was driven to accomplish. I joined the Wattsburg Wireless Association and made many new friends several of which helped me homebrew a G5RV. I want to give them credit for all their help: Floyd WA3LCO, Bill KB3OED, Dorothy KB3ORZ, and Frank KB3NAT. My rig is an Icom-746 Pro which I enjoy very much. QRP is my newest adventure in ham radio. I have an Elecraft KX-1 that was expertly built for me by my Elmer. I recently completed my first build which is an OHR-100A an excellent little qrp rig. My interest has always been Morse Code and I owe a debt of gratitude to my Elmer Bill NT9K in Melbourne,FL. His experience, help, and encouragement have been very important to me. I would like to add that Bill was recently inducted in 2007 into the SKCC Hall of Fame - well deserved recognition of his tireless efforts and dedication to Morse Code. On occasion I use PSK-31 and RTTY, but CW is my favorite mode of communication. I am a retired counselor from the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections so I have plenty of time to pursue my hobby. SKCC # 3218, Fists # 13365, NAQCC # 1959, and Flying Pigs QRP Club #1932.

I QSL 100% direct.
