Biography
Thanks for looking me up my friend. In 1980 I made the move into the amateur radio ranks with a novice ticket, KA9NBW. I had a 75-watt, Heathkit HW-16 w/6 plug-in crystals for CW only and still have it today. Later I upgraded to a HW-101 and SSB!
Today, my wife (W9ARL) and I either use an Icom 706MkII as a base station for VHF/UHF + PSK-31 and Icom 7300 radio with a Ameritron AL80B amp (1,000 watts). QHT Antennas: DX-88, G5RV wire and A-4S four element beam antennas at home. I normally operate on 80M, 40M, 20M & 17m bands on SSB or PSK31.
Our portable station is a solar/battery powered MFJ 9420 QRP-SSB 20m radio with MFJ 20m Ham Sticks dipole configuaration or wire (QRP: 8-10 watts out)
I hope to have many more QSL'S in the years to come with every one out there.
I operate with W9LRC (Lakeshore Radio Club) during Field Day & Special Events
