Biography
First licensed at age 14 on March 7, 1956 as KN6RAH in San Diego, California, and January 1957 as K6RAH in Whittier, California and soon thereafter in La Habra, California. My license expired in the early 1970s as marriage, college, kids, and career absorbed all of my time.
I obtained a new license in August 2009 as Technician, then General as KF5CMF. Applied for my prior call which was granted (vanity) on September 26, 2009. Passed Amateur Extra Class on November 1, 2009 and retained my old call sign.
Worked DXCCs:
Equipment
Yaesu FT-2000 transceiver & AL811H amplifier running 100 to 600 Watts.
My primary antenna is an indoor 6-band Hex Beam mounted on a rotator in my attic. I call it my "Phantom of the Attic."
My secondary antenna is a 110' random length wire fed through an SGC 237 auto coupler for all HF bands. The wire is about 25 to 30 feet above ground.
Primary interest is in DX operating and working occasional contests.
DXCC -136 confirmed (I achieved DXCC with 100 watts and my random length wire). Also, WAS, and WAC.
Member of ARRL, The Richardson Wireless Klub, Lone Star DX Assn., Ten-Ten #76940, and the Quarter Century Wireless Assn., Chapter 41.
