Biography

Following my retirement in Oct 2012, I returned to Amateur Radio after a 20 year hiatus. I was licensed as KA5KFN in 1980, WK5I in 1986, and K5DC in 1998.

I am a charter member of the Lone Star DX Association. I regained my DXCC Honor Roll status in 2014. Prior to my rejuvenation I had never worked a station on the WARC bands, 160M, or 6M. These have provided new opportunities -- and challenges. I've been working on band-countries and I now have 8BDXCC, plus a few on 160M and 6M. I also participate in the CQ DX Marathon Limited Class.
I operate about 95% CW and 5% SSB -- no digital.

Worked DXCCs:

Equipment

Current antennas include a Hexbeam by KIO Technology for 6M thru 20M, a delta loop for 30M, a Windom/OCF dipole for 40M and 80M, an inverted V for 160M, and a Pixel RF Pro-1B Loop for enhanced receive on the low bands. Rigs are Yaesu FTdx-5000MP with an Elecraft P3 panadapter ---- and an Icom IC-7610. I've never owned an amplifier. Logging program is Xlog for Linux OS.

DX Code Of Conduct

dx code of conduct small logoI support the "DX Code Of Conduct" to help to work with each other and not each against the others on the bands.
