Biography

I have been a Ham for since the early 80s and was first licensed as a Technician with callsign KC4URF. I soon upgraded to General and mostly operated VHF/UHF SSB from EM80 in North Florida until moving to Colorado in '97. After my father passed away I changed my call to one very similar to his and am now licensed as K3GYK. I have been mostly inactive until April of 2017 when a friend introduced me to digital with PSK-31 and JT65 and now I am operating again on those modes.

I QSL with eQSL, LoTW, and Direct.

73 from Colorado

Equipment

Current rigs are a Yaesu FT-DX3000, Yaesu FT-991, and an SDRPlay RSP2 for a pan adaptor. I live in a CC&R controlled community and only operate with a whip vertical for 20 and 40 meters, and sometimes tune up the rain gutters with an MFJ-993B ATU. I also have a 6m dipole in the garage that gets used when we have some sporadic E band openings.
