| Biography First licensed 1964 in Hillside, NJ when a bunch of teenage CB operators became message ops for the local CD/RACES organization and discovered the magic of ham radio. First Novice call WN2QRK issued in error by FCC, quickly replaced with WN2QYU. Many years as a Tech WB2QYU. Moved to 1-land (Stamford and later West Haven, CT), issued WA1QWE "quails, whales, and elephants", then moved back to 2-land (Long Island, NY) and upgraded to Advanced KE2BK. Changed to current vanity call and retired to sunny Florida - no more shoveling snow. Member FMARC. Worked DXCCs: Equipment Running an IC-7300 for HF with panadapter/SDR display driving an offset fed dipole. Still looking for that low SWR antenna that will give me good coverage to the north into IN and PA. Retired my TR-9000 in favor of an IC-7100 for 2m SSB, which also gives me mutli mode on 70cm and a backup for my 7300, plus various HT's for 2m and 70cm FM and DMR. TGIFspot for DMR in the house (look for me on TGIF 31665 or 7205; or East Coast Reflector 9050). Also installed a VERO N-7500 with Bluetooth controls in my new red Audi A5 convertible (no room for even a control head). | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
