Biography
Thanks for taking the time to follow my amateur radio journey with me. I was originally licensed in 1983 as a novice, Ka1jqm in a middle school student program in Bethel Ct. by nationally recognized Peter Kemp Kz1z, at age of 13, soon to upgrade to general in 1984 with the call sign N1dbh. My passion in radio at that point was emergency communications, traffic handling and cw. Than a catastrophic radio tragedy took place, I discovered driving work and girls. Starting my own roofing business in 1987 kept my mind occupied with other duties, license expired in 1994.I was young and foolish.
30 years running successful roofing company, three kids, racing cars and building houses kept me busy, radio was always in the back of my mind and I promised myself one day that I would get back into it.With a lot of spare time in the winter 2019 I decided to start studying for my technician to get back into amateur radio, passed my general in June 2020, Always being one to dive into everything headfirst, went out and bought a series of VHF and HF radios, antennas , amps etc. and started working on my radio skills once more. These days I enjoy antenna work, Delta X-ray both ssb and cw, 30 years have passed since I’ve been on the air and I didn’t miss a thing, but I have also missed everything. I am very happy and welcomed to be back involved in this beautiful hobby, catch me on the airwaves Utc 000 to 0400 on 20-40 meters Ssb or cw. 73 Eric.
