Biography
Hello Everyone! This is Mike (HI3MPC), From Santiago, Dominican Republic.
My love for radio started way back in ’93, when i was only 13 years old and got into Colegio Loyola’s “Scientific Community” (COMCIL). There I became one of the operators for HI8-CLD which was our schools radio call sign. In 96’ I moved from Santo Domingo to Santiago, and with the internet boom became separated from all HAM related activities.
In 2013 I visited some friends at Loma del Toro Contest Group and spent a whole weekend watching them take part in a contest, my love for radio resurfaced, as I watched them make contacts all around the world I knew I had to come back.
In September 2014 I took my novice exam which I passed with flying colors and got my first call sign HI3NPM. 20 years in the making but I was finally there. In october 2015 i took my technician exam and passed it, obtaining my new callsign HI3MPC.
I currently operate my IC 706mkII-G on a homebrew ground plane anttenna for 10m and on a G5RV Jr. for 10/20/40m at home. For contests I help out at Loma del Toro Contest Group. You can find our page here: http://www.lomadeltoro.com/
