Biography
Located in Cruden Bay a small village on the NE coast of Scotland, about 25 miles North of Aberdeen.
My first job was as a Merchant Navy radio/electronics officer with Shell Tankers (any ex Shell guys reading this it was mid 70's into the 80's) , I came ashore and worked for a number of telecoms support companies in Aberdeen supporting offshore activities, worked ad-hoc offshore eventually settling into an office based role (Network & Telecoms support) with occasional offshore.
Was licensed around 1988 thanks to an amateur work colleague who encouraged me to take the exam and morse test so I achieved a full UK licence.
Equipment per the list below, I work a lot of digital modes really because this is what got me hooked again as I could get reasonable results with low power/low impact, also some CW, less SSB, mostly HF/6M but also dabble in D-Star on VHF.
Thanks for looking me up, hope to work you sometime.
73 Mike.
