Biography
I'm a retired Customs MIB Agent. I worked at Heathrow Airport for 50 years.
Now living in Stanwell Moor, Surrey. B Licence holder as G6USS in 1983, and in the following year passed my CW test at Lands End Radio Station, to qualify for my Full (A licence) as G4UXG. I achieved DXCC using QRP CW on a G5RV and a vertical in 1985. Was a keen 2m Moonbounce operator and used the early RS and Oscar satellites.
Primary interests are now all QRP on CW, FT8, and D-star.
No HF beams for me now... too close to runway 9R at Heathrow Airport. Currently operating from an X6100 into an EFLW, or portable into either an MP1DXG2PLUS, Sotabeams Bandspringer long wire or an HFJ-350M.
Stanwell Moor is a village in the county of Surrey with a population of around 1,500. Close to both Heathrow Airport and the wonderful Staines and Stanwell Moors, both sites of special scientific interest. I often walk the moors, which are an oasis of peace in such an urban area being so close to Heathrow Airport.
I am a keen distance trekker, with recent climbs to Everest Base Camp and Mera Peak in Nepal. Also interested in astronomy and use the fabulous Stellina telescope.
