Biography

First licensed in 1974 as G8IVA, VHF only. Obtained my full license G4HFU around 1978 and after a brief flirtation with a KW-2000A I enjoyed working the sunspot maximum with 10w from a TS-120V.

Went almost totally QRT in 1980 after moving to a small flat (apartment) with no real scope for aerials. Another house move in 1987 and then again in 1998 gave more room for aerials, but work, family and competing interests left little time for radio.

Up until 2012 I had only sporadic periods of activity, mainly low-power and often just experimenting with aerials. I retired in 2015, so I have become a little more active.

Current interests are digital modes, QRP, and trying to regain my CW skills. I am a member of the RSGB, GQRP club and Fists.
