Biography

Licence obtained 1970, and was quickly on 160m AM using a 10w homebrew transmitter with a BC348 receiver. In 1972 obtained a KW Vanguard Transmitter and ventured on to HF bands running 50w into a long wire antenna and an HRO receiver and now started to use and enjoy CW. Later obtained a Yaesu FL50 transmitter with a Trio 9R57DS receiver.1977 saw a change of address but only a short distance from the original QTH but there was much work to do and a young family so I was off air for some time. In 1979 I acquired a Heathkit HW100 and until 1988 there was a small amount of operation until we again moved house in May 1988 when I was off air for about 5 years. Limited operation started again in 1993 when the main work on the house was completed, again using the HW100 and a vertical antenna and in 1994 I bought a new Icom 737 which I am still using in 2015. Limited operation continued until 2000 when I started frequent travelling with my job and again had little time for radio and it wasn't until I retired in 2009 that I turned back to radio and started up the station again in August 2010 and am now very active on the bands using CW. Operated on 30m through to 10m with the loop antenna since 2009 until Mid July 2016.Now using 4.5m Mutiband Vertical on 40m thtough to 10M.
From 08 July 2017 changed ICOM for a Kenwood TS 590sg. Now operating CW + data modes FT8/FT4

QTH is approx 26Km SE of Liverpool and is 83m above sea level.
