Biography

Hello and thanks for looking me UP

The name is Howard .. located 10 miles south of the city of Bristol on the north edge of the mendip hills in a village called Sandford home of Thatchers Cider !

First licenced as G1OYH in 1985 before that I spent about 3 years on CB then soon after it became legal, tried a bit of ssb and DXing but realised that CB was a bit childish and limited compaired to amateur radio but CB did become an entrance to a world of radio which has continued to this day.

I found a kenwood R600 reciever, got hooked on shortwave and HF bands joined the Harwell radio club and took the RAE and morse test never looked back

Moved from Oxfordshire to the southwest in 1997 married with two grown up kids

Ex NHS Ambulance Paramedic, First aid trainer now retired in 2013 ... keen biker and enjoy social rideouts that include pubs that do food (and beer) on route !!

Radio interests mainly HF SSB. some data modes JT65 at the moment


other loves ... motorbikes photography and fishing !

I also play guitar and have been in several bands and made it my goal to aquire all the guitars of desire from my youth (all thats missing is a gibson 335)

I also own two mad Bengal cats and do a bit of carp fishing at times ( the cats want me to go fishing more often)

Kenwood TS950SD, Kenwood TS2000 TS480 Acom 1010, Rf Space SDR-IQ as a pan adaptor for the TS950, Heil PR781 microphone or heil headset with HC4 insert through W2IHY 8 band EQ, Trio R600 rx.

my antenna's are Fan Dipole covering 80m to 10m and a ground plain vertical for 6m
