| Biography I became a ham radio operator in 1977 while living in St. Louis, Missouri. I earned my Extra class license about a year later. I operated from 1979 to 1981 as AE0L/KH2, from Guam, Mariana Islands, while serving as a medical officer in the United States Navy. My QSL Manager was K0LST, Lou Ouren, now a silent key. He made being "DX" a lot of fun. From Guam, I worked all states, all continents, and 124 counties in a year. My son, Steve, when he was 2-years old, had his first QSO while in diapers from my Guam ham shack! (picture shown, below).
