Biography

I became a ham radio operator in 1977 while living in St. Louis, Missouri. I earned my Extra class license about a year later. I operated from 1979 to 1981 as AE0L/KH2, from Guam, Mariana Islands, while serving as a medical officer in the United States Navy. My QSL Manager was K0LST, Lou Ouren, now a silent key. He made being "DX" a lot of fun. From Guam, I worked all states, all continents, and 124 counties in a year. My son, Steve, when he was 2-years old, had his first QSO while in diapers from my Guam ham shack! (picture shown, below).

We now live and operate from Chandler, Arizona. My favorite mode of operation is CW, but I spend about a quarter of my air time on SSB HF. My XYL (N0AKN), son (KC7RCZ), and dad (N0BKI) are hams, too, although they are not active at this time. 73s
