Biography

Howdy. I live just outside Buda, TX, which is south of Austin. I am apolitical science professor at Texas State University and aretired Navy Captain. My first license was WN0VEZ in 1976, which quickly upgraded toWB0VEZ in 1977. By 1977, I passed the Extra and changed my call to AD0K.

I enjoy RTTY and CW, working contests casually, but chasing DX. Nearly 29 years in the Navy limited my operating time, butI did get in some Maritime Mobile work in Region 3 from the USS Alamo (LSD 33) back in 1985 and 1986.

The new QTH here in central Texas has afforded me the time to finally complete my goal of DXCC. I also managed WAS from the new QTH including RTTY WAS #509.

My station is a TS-2000 to a Mosley TA 66M, and multiple end-fed Zepps.

Jeannine, my XYL, is N0EZZ

I was off the air between 2008 and 2016, primarily due to working on my Ph.D. in Government at the University of Texas. Why a 50-something retired Navy Captain would want to do that is a good question. But, I got the degree in 2009 and began teaching at Texas State University. Finally, this year, I dusted off the gear, made a few solder connections to the antenna, and got back on the air. Look for me on all bands, including 6m.

By the way, if you are interested, I wrote a book. Check out The Soldier Vote: War, Politics, and the Ballot in American, published in 2015 by Palgrave-Macmillan. It is too expensive for normal people to buy, but since I know the author, I can help you out.
