| Biography W2A is a Special Call to commemorate my life in Ham Radio, thanks to my friend Sal (KB2FLM) who I met on the CB in the early '80s. We began using old ham equipment (Drake Twins, Heathkit Apache / Mohawk, Collins KWS1) and in those days, with everything anolog, TVI / RFI was a problem. We were coming through TVs, Telephones, toaster ovens 10 blocks away and even orthodontic braces if they were close enough. Uncle Charlie was on our tail to stop so, to not give up the equipment.....
.... In 1985 we went and took a test and got our novice licenses in someone's house over dinner. Over the years we drifted in different directions due to kids, work and life in general. I recently learned he became a Silent Key in 2011 so in memory of those days of talking all over the world on AM using those old tube monsters (which I still use and he did till the day of his demise) I am operating the AM Rally under the call W2A.
