Biography

Die Stadt Solingen begeht im Jahre 2024 ihr 650-jähriges Jubiläum zur Erlangung der Stadtrechte.

Am 23. Februar 1374 erhob Graf Wilhelm von Berg das Dorf Solingen zur Freiheit und damit zur Stadt und genehmigte neben der Durchführung von Wochen- und Jahrmärkten auch die Befestigung des Ortes.

Die Städte Gräfrath, Höhscheid, Ohligs, Solingen und Wald wurden am 1. August 1929 durch das Gesetz zur kommunalen Neuordnung zur Großstadt Solingen vereinigt.

Zum 1. Januar 1975 wurde die Stadt Burg nach dem sogenannten Düsseldorf-Gesetz zusammen mit dem vormals zu Wermelskirchen gehörenden Höhrath und der Ortslage Strohn nach Solingen eingemeindet.

Aus diesem Anlass ist vom 01.01.2024 bis 31.12.2024 der DARC Ortsverband Solingen R14

mit dem Sonderrufzeichen DQ650SG und dem Sonder DOK 650SG aktiv.
