Biography

I received the call sign VE3HJS in Thunder Bay, Ontario in June of '74, and held it until January of 1985, when I changed it to VE3CK. After moving to Aylmer (now Gatineau) Québec in October 1994, I changed it to VA2CK, then VE2GK.

I enjoy chasing DX using CW. The station is modest, and made up of delta loops for 10, 12 and 15 meters, a 40 meter dipole and an inverted L with a SGC-230 remote tuner at the base. The HF rigs are a Yaesu FT-2000 and a Kenwood TS-590SG.
A Hammarlund HQ-180AX is used for "easy listening" on 40 CW, and for my 5 year old granddaughter to play with.

My dad, Charlie VE3EUL (SK) was a WAG -Wireless Operator Air Gunner with the RCAF's 200 squadron in SE Asia duriing WW2 on board a B-24 Liberator. He taught me the morse code. My XYL Coral is VA2CS, and held the callsign VE3PHR in Thunder Bay, Ontario from 1986 until we moved to Aylmer where she held VE2CXS for a few years.
