Biography

Hi, My name is Daniel van Lill. I was born and spent the first part of my youth in a small town called Dikeni, (Or Alice as it used to be known in my younger years), in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa. At the age of 12 we moved to Fort Beaufort, about 20 Kilometers from Dikeni/Alice. Both my parents were Radio operators in the old National Defense Force and I spent many hours watching them work on the air.

After school I worked for the Department of Corrections for 2 years after witch I was drafted into the National Defense Force for my compulsory two years service.

I left the Defense Force suffering from PTSD. Many years later and many days of turmoil I met a man that saved me, Allen Wilson,(www.allenwilson.co.za) a father, a friend, my pastor and our Prophet and was delivered from PTSD and started my life from scratch. I am now an ordained minister in the group.

I am married to my lovely wife Liana and have three children, my youngest son, Tiley, 7 Years of age, My daughter, Mika, 4 years of age and my oldest, Dominic(ZS4KD), 20 years of age.

Dominic, my eldest I am proud to say is also a Ham Radio operator, call-sign ZS4KD.

In 2011 we moved to Colesberg, a small town in the center of the country and situated on the main N1 Highway, the main route through the country.

Here you will find the most divine sheep/lamb dishes in the country.(Karoo Lamb)

FEEL FREE TO VISIT FOR A TREAT OF THE TASTE BUDS!!!

Stepping out of ministry to provide for my family and having lots of previous knowledge but no formal education I started my own business.

I run my own small but successful Security business, doing Alarm Monitoring, Response and installations for clients in and around Colesberg. I am also busy putting up a small Bed and Breakfast so feel free to come and visit us when you are in Sunny South Africa.

I AM A MEMBER OF THE SOUTH AFRICAN RADIO LEAGUE (SARL - www.sarl.org.za)

MY CLUB IS BLOEMFONTEIN AMATEUR RADIO CLUB (BARC - www.zs4bfn.co.za)

I WORK MAINLY ON SSB AND PSK31 WHEN I HAVE THE CHANCE TO BE HOME. WHEN NOT HOME MY RADIO IS SET UP TO WORK WSPR ON 60m BAND (5.290Mhz) TO DO PROPAGATION TESTS FOR POSSIBLE BAND ALLOCATION BY OUR GOVERNMENT.

I HOPE TO HEAR YOU ON THE AIR SOON AND AWAIT YOUR VISIT WITH EAGER ANTICIPATION!!

Equipment

MY STATION CONSISTS OF: Icom IC-735, LDG AT-200 PRO II AUTO-TUNER WITH DIPOLE ANTENNA.

I also use a Celleron PC with home made digital C-IV / Digital and audio interface for WSPR and PSK31.

I have recently made a 20m Moxon Beam but lack a tower, so that would soon be my next project.
