Biography

W8KSC was once the call sign of my Grandfather. He became a silent key late in 1988. He worked 160, 80 & 40 meters from home and 10 meters mobile. He was the one who showed me how much fun 10 meters could be.

As of 10-10-11 my 10-10 number is 76081.
OMISS number 8290

Anamosa is about 25 miles north east of Cedar Rapids Iowa. As a newer ham, I am just trying to work every state and country.

I also like to work portable from my cabin in Northern Lower Michigan (Oscoda County).

I work in Quality Engineering for an avionics company.

Equipment

I have an Icom IC-718. I really like to work 10 meter phone but I also work 10 - 40 Meters with my OCF dipole. I have an home made attic dipole for 15 meters since my Windom JR style OCF dipole antenna has poor SWR for 15 and 80 meters.

I use a Yaesu FT-1900R with a home made attic dipole for 2 meters FM.

I also have a MFJ 9475 for 75 meter SSB (10 watts) and a Ranger RCI-2950DX 10 & 12 M (10 Watts) for portable use on solar panel or battery power.
