Biography

Began as WN5ZXG in 1953 when a senior in Will Rogers High School in Tulsa, OK at the same time W5DBZ (Orris Reed) received his Novice license. Robert Rice, K7HVV, and Civil Air Patrol got me interested in ham radio. Began college at Oklahoma A&M University in Stillwater, OK in 1953; finished college with a BBA at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas in 1973. I received a First Class Commercial Radio license with Radar Endorsement in 1960 while an instructor at the missile school in Ft. Bliss, Texas, (used it only once when working for a subsidiary of Collins Radio in Richardson, Texas). I've been employed as a Field Support Engineer, Engineering Assistant, Senior Electronics Technician, Continuation Engineer, Project Engineer for Skylab Project SO15; Inertial Navigation Group Leader, Entrepreneur designing medical experiment equipment for NASA principle investigators, System Electronics Engineer in an OCR lab, and engineering manager for a Christian education company. Over the years I operated on 80, 75, 40 and 20 meters. Currently I am on 2 meters and 420. Hopefully I will obtain my Extra Class license and get back on the HF bands.

Equipment

Heathkit HW-80, HW-40 & HW-20 Transceivers; 20M vertical antenna. Wouxon KG-UV5D handheld; Diamond X30A antenna. Realistic HTX-202 transceiver.
