Biography

I’m a retired pilot qualified on both fixed wing and helicopters. The bulk of my flying career was with Transport Canada, the Canadian aviation regulator and Nav Canada, the air navigation system operator. Back in 1964/65 I worked as an air traffic controller in Gander located in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. After forty one years living in New Brunswick it was time to come home so we're now resident on the family farm. I became licensed in 1995 and my callsign from New Brunswick was VE9GFD.

If you go to the listed position from my details and look West on Google Earth Streetviews the house is 150 feet from the road. The physical address is 57 Perth Station Road in the farming community of New Perth.

I hold the callsign VY2PLH used for Prince Edward Island lighthouse (www.peilighthousesociety.ca) activations. In conjunction with VE9BGC I operate as VE9NLH from lighthouses in New Brunswick. To see a history of activations lookup - MLARG - on Facebook groups.

Equipment

I run 100w on a Kenwood TS-2000 and a TS-480SAT using a Cushcraft MA-5B and a Gap Titan. For VHF/UHF I use a Comet GP-3. My mobile is a Yaesu FTM-400XDR with APRS (VY2GF-9) capability. My VHF base is a Yaesu 2500M.
