Biography

Greetings!

I obtained my license in Germany and got my call sign DC3GL. Thanks to my hubby (at the time DL8VD) that taught me all about HAM Radio I successfully passed my exam.

After we migrated to Australia in 1983 I applied for an Australian call sign and was provided VK4ZPR. Due to language difficulties I stayed a bit in the background and haven’t been QRV for some time. My hubby was engaged in QRL and had another hobby for many years but re- discovered HAM Radio some two years ago and this was the trigger to get me back on air as well.

The Cubical Quad antenna (10,15 and 20m) that has been rebuilt years ago fell victim again to another storm we had in 2010. Then in early 2015 the Quad has been completely rebuilt, this time stronger with an aluminium centrepiece and all cables were replaced.

For 40 and 80m I use a half wave dipole that is hung up between two tall Gum trees.

A station was set up by purchasing a new Radio Yaesu FTDX3000 and EMTRON Linear amplifier DX-1d.

Recently both units were replaced by an ICOM IC-7851 and a solid state Amp. SPE “Expert” 1.3K. I use the Radio as often as my usual housework allows me to do so and share the station of course with my husband Claus, VK4AS that looks after all the technical stuff whenever I encounter some irregularities.

I enjoy HAM Radio very much and hope to meet you one day on the air waves.

Thanks for watching.
