Biography

Got my basic license and callsign (VE1BOR) in 1977. Upgraded to Amateur Advanced (VE1HN) circa 1984, by which time I was also a Canadian Coast Guard Radio Operator at station VCS, Halifax Coast Guard Radio in Ketch Harbour, Nova Scotia, where we used Morse code (MF/HF) Radiotelephone (MF/HF/VHF) and RTTY (HF). When I transferred to New Brunswick from Nova Scotia in 1997, I became VE9HT. Aside from my Amateur Advanced license, I also hold a couple of different unrestricted radio operator's tickets allowing me to operate any radio equipment on Canadian Coast Guard ships, plus... just for a laugh, restricted land and air mobile operator's licenses.

Unfortunately, using Morse code on a daily basis at work, I no longer wanted to get on the air at home. On the other hand, I can retire in about 2 or 3 years, and I might get back into ham radio.

Equipment

At the moment, nothing of note. The only HF equipment I still have is a very nice MFJ antenna tuner, and a good number of CW keys and bugs. I also still have a relatively ancient 2M rig with 5 whole memories. As I recall it's an Azden PCS-2000, of mid-80s vintage.
