Biography

Hi, and thanks for looking up my call. I am a retired mechanical engineer. I worked for the US Navy for 33 years as a civilian employee. I enjoy DXing, rag chewing and learning new things about the ham radio hobby.

My XYL (KE4TCH) Kay and I travel the US in our RV, a 5th wheel camper. We usually take a few short trips and one long trip each year. If I am in one spot for a few nights I will set up my portable station and try to work a few hams.

Equipment

My home station consist of an Icom IC-7800 and IC-756pro3, Kenwood TL-922A and Drake L-4B. My antenna is a Mosley CL-33 WARC on a small 10 meter tower for 10-20 meters and a Carolina Windom (off center fed dipole) for 30,40 and 80. I use a MicroHam USB III Interface for data modes with FLdigi as my software.

My portable station consist of an Icom IC-7100, feeding an IC-AH4 wire tuner and a 31 foot fiberglass push up pole holding up a wire. I use my RV as a ground plane plus a length or two of wire out the back on the ground. I rag chew on SSB and work DX on any mode I hear them.

DX Code Of Conduct

dx code of conduct small logoI support the "DX Code Of Conduct" to help to work with each other and not each against the others on the bands.
