Biography

My current set-up at home for HF is the Yaesu FT-1000MP MK5 Field which is a fantastic HF set - I really rate it; mine is a 2004 vintage and has the latest updates from Yaesu.

For 2m and 70cm I have an ICOM IC2820 with which I am active on D-STAR either via the local repeaters or the 2m or 70cm simplex calling channels.

My HF antenna is now a full sized ZS6BKW up as an inverted V. The centre section is up about 13m and each leg then is about 4m off the ground and currently it is hung N-S.

This works very well on the bands it was designed for.

I am on digital modes with a G4ZLP DigiMaster USB MiniPRO and using the HRD software suite for PSK31 on 40m mainly and MMSSTV for SSTV working on 20m and 10m.

My CW is not super but I am getting better! I have had a few QSOs and people have been very kind and allow for my variable speed sending! I like my flappy paddle keyer, much better for a noob than the straight key.

I'm AG with eQSL.cc for my three call signs. eQSL is my preferred method or via the Buro if you want a paper card for the QSO/QSL.
