Biography

Hi, my name is Ronny and I've been a ham since 1993. I built my first power supply at the age of 12. My Dad had a music store since the 50's near Chicago, and he repaired guitar amps and PA audio systems but he was color blind. So reading the color bands of resistors, and soldering, along with testing tubes got my interest in learning more about electronics.

I'm a member of the FISTS CW club, NR is 5292, CC nr 1114, Fists Platinum Award nr 385. Also part of Straight Key Century Club, My SKCC nr is 4794, and member of the Morse Telegraph Club.

I drive an 18 wheel rig local for USPS. Also, play drums and percussion, and vocals, along with doing some recording sessions with national recording artists. Hobbies include hiking, biking, swimming, photography, video taping.

I like to read the Moonbounce Net and interested in reading about array of antennas for EME and the configuration. Interested in WSJT. Since I'm recently living in an apartment, I'm on my iMac listening to websdr or working with Echolink. I've been recently informed about Allstar and Linux OS. So researching is my passion.

Hope to QSO with you on the bands...

Thanks for looking me up on the QRZ Callbook and hope we can do it again.

73, Ronny

Equipment

I own a Icom IC-746Pro for desktop rig on HF. Amp and ATU is Elecraft KPA500 and KAT500. I use a Ten-Tec Eagle and Icom IC-706mkllG for portable use. For the 6 meter band, I run a TS-600 Kenwood and a TE Systems 0510G amp with a horizontal loop antenna and a M2 3element yagi. For 2 meter CW and SSB I use the 746Pro with a 4 element yagi. Also other ATU's are MFJ 949E, Heathkit HA-2060A, Nye Viking M-B-5A for those wire ants. Collecting Drake line and I also have a Collins 30L-1 that I hardly use. My main CW paddle is a Scheunemann Einhebel 3. Also run a Bencher paddle, and a Western Electric along with a Bunnell Stright key and Vibroplex paddle sometimes, Schurr Profi I Iambic paddle. Also have Vibroplex 2 left handed bugs, (one that is a Presentation), a right handed J-36 bug, Begali Simplex Mono and Traveler paddle. As you can tell, I'm very curious about the history of telegraphy, and love cw because it's got rhythm.
