Work Experience Summary:

Technology Director for a K-12 public school district and municipality for 17 years as a way to "give something back". Managed all aspects of a 2,000 workstation, 14 building technology infrastructure. Taught graduate courses in educational technology and curriculum development.

Technician, engineer, and manager at Benthos, Inc. for 21 years, 8 years as President/CEO. We made Big and Little Geek for James Cameron's "The Abyss", as well as much of the underwater equipment used to film "Titanic". Our "real" products were underwater acoustics, remotely operated underwater vehicles, and process control instrumentation.

US Navy submariner for 8 years, spent about 5 years on missile sub's running the navigation center (about 2 of those years underwater), and 2 years instrumenting missile tests on the Atlantic range with folks from John Hopkins APL. Attended ET "A", ET "B", and many "C" schools in the areas of computer and electronic equipment maintenance. Left the Navy as an ETC(SS).

Logger for Weyerhauser Timber in coastal Oregon, setting chokers and bucking large timber until the threat of being drafted loomed over my head.

Hobbies/Interests:

I bicycle, sail, hike, and ski when I find the time. I managed to bicycle across the US in 2000 as part of the American Lung Association's "Big Ride". I also enjoy construction projects around the property. I ride my BMW K1200LT whenever I find an excuse and enjoy long rides. I enjoy international travel, recently spending about a month sailing along the coast of Turkey and hiking to various ruins accessible from the coast. I have recently renewed activity as an amateur radio operator with particular interest in: designing/building equipment, software controlled radios, slow scan television, antennas, and data transmission.

Equipment
