Biography

Hello, I am Chuck, KB3YVS. I am a current student at Delaware Valley College. I am majoring in Chemistry with a minor in Equine Science. My hobbies are Ham Radio (kind of obvious), horseback riding, and collecting antiques. I am currently operating out of my college dorm room using some old telephone wire and magnet wire, both in a random length setup. I have both voice and digital capabilities. My operation on 40M would not be practical if it were not for an RF choke I made from extra coax and a bunch of zip ties... hi hi! I love Ham Radio and all of the great things that come with it... except an empty wallet.

Equipment

My Equipment is a Kenwood TS-570S using a Kenwood AT-180 manual tuner and a Kenwood PS-30 power supply. My antenna is an experimental wire setup using a long random length of magnet wire as a radiator and some telephone wire for a counterpoise, which is wrapped around a rock and tossed into a tree. I have constructed an RF choke to keep the menacing RF feedback out of the rig, a problem which has been a constant battle against for almost a year, but now solved. My MIC is a Kenwood MC-60 desk mic and my digital interface is a SIGNALINK USB. I use a laptop for my computer database and as a digital sending/receiving unit.
