Biography
A retired engineer, I live full-time in my 1987 Wanderlodge PT40. All operation is mobile with a Ten-Tec Jupiter transceiver and a roof-mounted Scorpion SA-680 screwdriver antenna.
Update Nov 2015: I have changed my transceiver to a Flex 6500 and added an Elecraft KPA-500 amplifier.
Update Aug 2022: Like many others, Covid had indirect effects on my situation. A month after the purchase of my current residence in Jan 2020, wet macular degeneration began in both of my eyes. This resulted in loss of vision, such that reading, driving, or even plugging a powercord into a wall receptacle were nearly impossible. The quarantine measures closed most facilities, including doctors offices. Treatment was finally available in Jun 2020. The delay led to irreversible damage to my left eye. Fortunately, the sight in my right eye eventually was restored to ~80%. (Treatment of wet macular degeneration is by injection of medication directly into the eyes, repeated at intervals which vary by individual.) With my vision stabilized, I am now in the process of moving my shack from my coach to my house.
