Biography

I was first licensed in the Canal Zone in 1977 as KZ5CMN but CZ required a permanent US address to issue a license, home base was Ft Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas and I've been KA5BJC ever since. I dragged a Henry Tempo 1 from New Jersey to Syracuse to Heidelberg Germany to Arizona to New York when I retired.

I took about a 20 year break from ham radio, junked the Tempo 1 and just got active again in 2010 and have moved from 75 meter SSB and Army MARS to 20 and 15 meter PSK with an occasional trip to 40 meter SSB. The trees just are not in the right place to get to 80!

I retired from the Army after 20 years as a hospital administrator (MAJ MSC if you speak Army) and went to work for the diplomatic service doing much the same job as I did in the Army.

I retired from the US Department of State on May 31, 2014.
