First licensed in May 1968 as WN9ZAK. Passed General Class in October 1968, received WA9ZAK. Upgraded to Advanced Class April 1969. Passed Extra Class w/2Ø W.P.M. code test July 1976. Changed callsign to N9ZK 1977. Joined Q.C.W.A. 1993 after having been licensed 25 years. Life member A.R.R.L. Changed call sign to K9ZK 1998. Club Station Trustee of call sign KV4AA. Awards include WAS, WAC, 5BWAS #1Ø4, DXCC, 5BDXCC. Current station lineup is a Yaesu 9ØØØMP 4ØØ Watt Transceiver, Flex SDR 5ØØØa, WØVMC custom Master Match PB 2.Ø Tuner, Palstar HF Auto Tuner, & Dual Electrovoice RE 27's. Kenwood 2ØØØ LE Mobile w/Tarheel 4ØØ Antenna. Base Station antennas include the Tennadyne T-8 @ 6Ø', DX Engineering 43' Thunderbolt Vertical configured as an inverted "L". Now works great on 16Ø meters. 75 Meter Double Bazooka. Amplifiers include WØVMC PB-2.Ø, Ameritron AL-811H, & ALS 13ØØ, Retired 12/31/99 after 3Ø years as an Illinois State Police Trooper.
