Biography
WELCOME TO MY PAGE!
The camp fire is warm and the coffee is on the boil. Pour yourself a cup and have a seat and I will tell you a little about this child.
I was born in San Francisco and raised in Los Gatos, CA. I picked up my Novice Ticket in 1978 and was given the call KA6ALK. I kept that call until 2009. In 1984 I joined the U.S. Navy and served for 15 years. I left active duty and served in the National Guard for 10 years and retired in 2009. In 2009 my XYL and I sold the house and packed up and moved to Wyoming.
WYOMING
Wyoming is the least populated state in the United States with a population around 650,000. The largest city is Cheyenne with a population around 60,000 and the smallest town is Lost Springs with a population of 4. Sheridan has around 17,000 and is in the top 5 population centers of Wyoming.
QSL INFO
I feel QSL cards are part of the hobby. If you need a QSL or want one just send me a card. I prefer paper QSLs. An SASE is nice but I don't need one. I have an E-QSL account. I have tried to get LOTW to work on my computer but...I can never get it to work.
OPERATING HABITS
My favorite band is 17 meters followed by 10 and 15 when they are open. I do work CW and most of my CW operating is on 30 meters and 40 meters.
STATION
My radio is an Icom IC-718 into a Delta Loop made by E-Antenna.
OTHER HOBBIES
When I am off the air I enjoy black powder/muzzle loading. I also enjoy Historical Trekking. My wife and I are heavily into metal detecting, camping, hiking, fishing and hunting.
Well, thank you for stopping by and I hope to see you on the air.
Equipment
Icom IC-718 and a Delta Loop from DX Engineering.
