Biography

First Licensed in 1961 with Novice call. Upgraded to Advanced in 1963, (WA6QXC). Obtained First Class Radiotelephone license in 1974. Served in the US Navy, 1965-1967 as Radioman aboard USS Cavalier, APA-37. Spent most of time in Vietnam as communication station ship.
Dropped out of Amateur radio in 1994 until 2008 and obtained extra license, K6OLY, then got vanity call K6LR in 2016
Retired from County of Sacramento in 2008. Was responsible for maintaining large 800Mhz Motorola trunked radio system utilized by public safety and all County departments.
Now live in Minden NV about 35 miles south of Reno, at about 5000 feet in the Carson Valley. of
Enjoy restoring "Boatanchor" tube type equipment, DXing, some contesting and just rag chewing.

Equipment

Rig is Yaesu FTdx-5000, driving an ACOM 2000a autotune amplifier.
Antenna is Tennedyne T-10 10 element log periodic antenna at 60 feet, and a 135 foot offset center inverted V for 40, 80 & 160.
Also have Hallicrafters SX-115 Receiver, Hallicrafters HT-32A transmitter. (1960's tube type radios). Have fully restored these and get on the air with them occaisionally.
