Biography

I am a law enforcement officer with a police department located about 30 miles north of Atlanta, Georgia. I hold the rank of Major. I am a Division Commander over Communications and Training as well as other numerous hats such as Recruiting Officer. Staff Aide to the Chief of Police, Public Information Officer, etc.

I was first licensed in 1976 as WB6QHZ while in the Marine Corps (SSgt 1971-77) stationed in southern California at MCAS El Toro. Throughout the years I have held the callsigns of WD8OHO, KE0KO, K4MSC and finally K4COP. When the vanity call signs came out, I first got my initials but when I graduated the police academy I snagged K4COP.

My SKCC # is 12824.

Equipment

My modest shack consists of an Alinco DX-SR8T usually running 100 watts with the LDG AL-100 tuner tuning a 66 foot long wire at about 20 feet using an Astatic D104 mike for SSB and using a Brown Brothers Machine Company straight key for CW (just can't do Iambic); a Radio Shack HTX-10 as a backup for 10 meters running 20-25 watts into a dipole located about 8 inches off my roof; and, a Kenwood TM-281A for 2 meters using a J-pole antenna hanging in the shack. The external speakers are Radio Shack Optimus cube speakers.
