Biography

Licensed since 1983, active more on /M up to 2006 when I'd had enough of being on the road 70 hours a week. I try to get on the air during the week now but it's mostly after the RSGB News broadcast. December 2017, moved QTH to the coast, July 2018 hopefully 6, 2 & 70 tri-bander will be erected. I had to get the domestic TV & FM/DAB setup fixed, new aerials replacing 20 year old ones, fed with RG59 70OHM coax, the old aerials fed with poor coax and full of bird-poo along with corrosion resulting in very poor reception. That's the station manager sorted now for the skivvy to have an aerial up!!

Equipment

Main Yaesu FT847 mainly 6, 2 & 70, keep trying to get round to installing my SGC 237 AATU.
Yaesu FT7800 when mobile.
For monitoring I've got what must now be a "Collectors" item, an Icom IC-R100 which has the R Withers, remember them? mod fitted for SSB & CW and it does "what it says on the tin", very good on HF with a random length of wire.
Antenna on top of an Altron P30T mast with it's base at 665ft ASL, Comet Tri-band co-linear, 6,2 &70, Jaybeam 10ele crossed for 70cms, Jaybeam 8ele crossed for 2 metres and an home-built INNOVANTENNA 3ele LFA for 6 metres. I thank Justin Johnson G0KSC for allowing details of his antennas on his self-build section.
Moved December 2017. Alas, after moving QTH, no tower, no beams BUT; a much better life style befitting a retired life!
